A printed hoodie lasts when three things line up: the right print method for the design, a cotton-rich fabric heavy enough to hold the ink, and the right washing. Get one wrong and even a great design cracks, fades or peels within a season. Here is how to tell the difference before you order.
The five ways a hoodie gets printed
Most printed hoodies sold in Pakistan use one of these methods. None is "best" for everything; each suits a different kind of design.
| Method | How it looks | Durability | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Screen printing | Bold, opaque colour that sits in the fabric | Very high when cured properly | Designs with a few solid colours, larger batches |
| DTF (direct to film) | Full colour and fine detail, slight smooth layer | High when pressed at the right heat | Detailed, multi-colour artwork like anime illustrations |
| DTG (direct to garment) | Very soft, printed straight into the cotton | Medium; can fade faster on dark fabric | One-off and small custom orders |
| Sublimation | Dye bonded into the fibres, no feel at all | Very high | White or light polyester only, not cotton fleece |
| Embroidery | Raised stitching, premium texture | Very high | Small logos and chest marks |
So if a shop offers a full-colour photographic print on a black cotton hoodie by "sublimation", ask again: sublimation does not work on dark cotton.
Front print, back print or both?
A large back print is the statement: it is what people see when you walk past, and it gives the artwork room to breathe. A small chest mark keeps the front clean, so the hoodie still works with everything you own. Many streetwear brands pair the two for exactly that reason. If you want to wear a hoodie three days a week, avoid one huge design on the front.
The fabric under the print matters
Ink needs something to hold on to. Cotton-rich fleece takes print well and stays comfortable; heavier fabric (around 300 GSM) also stops the print from warping when the hoodie stretches. Very thin or highly synthetic fleece can make prints look shiny and crack sooner. Our anime hoodie guide explains GSM and what weight suits Pakistan's seasons.
How to make a printed hoodie last
- Turn it inside out before every wash.
- Wash cold with similar colours. Hot water is the fastest way to crack a print.
- Skip bleach and strong stain removers on the printed area.
- Hang dry or tumble dry on low. Never dry it in harsh direct sun for hours.
- Never iron directly on the print. If you must, iron it inside out on low.
- Wait a day or two after delivery before the first wash if the seller recommends it.
Custom printing or a designed collection?
Custom print shops are great for a one-off: your own text, a team name, a gift. A designed collection is different: the artwork, fabric and fit are planned together, tested on samples and made in a batch, so every piece comes out the same. If you care about how the print and the hoodie work together, a collection is usually the safer buy.

Quick answers
Which print lasts longest on a hoodie?
Properly cured screen printing and embroidery last the longest. DTF is close behind and handles detailed, full-colour art much better.
Why did my hoodie print crack?
Usually hot washing, tumble drying on high, ironing over the print, or a print that was under-cured when it was made.
Are back-printed hoodies in fashion in Pakistan?
Yes. Large back prints are a staple of streetwear, and they let the front stay simple enough for everyday wear.
